What is PEM?

PEM Premium Embedding Medium is an OCT-style embedding medium for cryosectioning (frozen sections). It is formulated by histotechnologists and made in the USA in small batches by Angell Labs.

What is it used for?

Frozen sectioning in Mohs surgery, clinical pathology, research histology, and veterinary pathology.

What comes in an order?

One case contains 12 bottles, each 4 fl oz (118 mL).

How much does a case cost?

A case is $199 (regular price $228). With a subscription, a case is $169.15.

How fast does my order ship, and what does shipping cost?

Orders ship the same day, and delivery takes 3–5 days. US Standard shipping is a flat $8 and is free on orders of $70 or more, so a $199 case ships free. Express shipping is $15. See Shipping.

What is the shelf life, and how should I store PEM?

PEM has a 24-month shelf life. For best results, store it in a cool, dark area.

Can I try PEM before buying a case?

Yes. Request a free sample. Samples are four 4 oz bottles. Samples are processed and shipped the same way as regular orders.

Where can I find the SDS and QC reports?

Do you offer Net 30 terms for labs?

What is your return policy?

Unused product in its original packaging can be returned within 30 days. We pay return shipping.
